Meet the U.S. Attorney Timothy M. O’Shea Acting United States Attorney

Timothy M. O’Shea has been a federal prosecutor in the Western District of Wisconsin since 1991. He has served as the First Assistant U.S. Attorney since March 2018, and as Senior Litigation Counsel from 2002 to 2018. In his time as a federal prosecutor, Mr. O’Shea has specialized in computer crime and intellectual property theft cases, but he has prosecuted a broad array of other crimes including: narcotics offenses; bank, mail, wire, and credit card fraud; bank robbery, murder, attempted murder, and other violent offenses; firearms and explosives; and tax offenses. Mr. O’Shea has written and lectured extensively about computer crime, the Fourth Amendment, and the admissibility of electronic evidence. He is a 1991 graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School and received his B.A. from Northern Illinois University in 1986.
