List posts are some of the most popular types of blog posts. They are generally highly informative and easy to scan through. The articles are also the most likely to go viral because the titles attract audience attention and showcase a blogger’s expertise.

According to Hubspot the blog posts on their site with the most engagements generally have titles less than 9 words and include a number and a year in them.

There are a few types of list-style blog posts: Curated Lists, “Best Of” Lists, and Tips Lists.

Curated Lists are mostly just well researched posts including a number of topics, for example, “The 30 youngest people in Congress”, “The 25 most well known Actors”, etc.

“Best Of” Lists include.. you guessed it.. lists of the best types of products / services / people / organizations or whatever else fits. Some examples of “Best Of” Blog Lists might include, “The 50 Best Websites for Inspiration”, or “100 of the world’s wackiest holidays!”

Tips List would include industry best tips in specific fields, DIY tips like how to build the best birdhouse or the best ways to make your pet love you!

Here are some ways to create high performing list posts:

• Identify both the idea & target audience.
• Write down as many points on the subject as possible and select the main point or groups of points..
• Use a title that will be relatable to your audience & use an odd number to indicate the list items.
• Include images & add sharing options.
• Include bonus takeaways and a main call to action offered on your website.
