Data from UK research group Logically, which focuses on disinformation, reveals that job advertisements for Wagner – a mercenary group operating in multiple countries – received nearly 120,000 views on both social media platforms in the past ten months.
These posts are published in dozens of languages, including French, Vietnamese, and Spanish. They also contain contact phone numbers, Telegram accounts, and salary offers of around $3,000 per month, along with various benefits like paid leave and health insurance.
According to Logically's CEO, Kyle Walter, some of these posts are "true propaganda films."
"As we continue to view Wagner as a more and more dangerous threat in the world, the fact that these posts are circulating online is very concerning," he said.
Meta, the parent company of Facebook, assures they are aware of the threat posed by the Wagner Group, adding that the company removes such content whenever it is detected.
Twitter, on the other hand, responded to a request for comment with a "poop" emoji. Last week, the social media company withdrew from the EU's Code of Practice on Disinformation.
